H2S Awareness and Escape

The H2S Awareness Course is designed to provide essential knowledge and skills in recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace hydrogen sulphide (H2S) hazards. This training program aims to educate workers on the potential dangers of H2S, its properties, and the appropriate safety measures to prevent exposure and injury.

What you’ll learn:

Training on the subject of Hydrogen Sulfide, or H2S, is essential for all oil and gas workers who could be exposed to H2S during the course of their work activities.

This training helps fulfill the training requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, ANSI Z390.1, Accepted Practices for Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Training Programs, and other regulatory standards.

Keep in mind that while this course provides information on the hazards of the gas, as well as ways to prevent and respond to exposure, you may require additional training in the use of company specific protective equipment and procedures. Training in equipment use and procedures should be provided by your employer and specific to your worksite.

This Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Awareness Certificate Training course is aimed at individuals required to carry out a work task or visit an asset where the release of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is possible.

Is previous experience required?

You do not need prior knowledge or experience to complete this course and it is assumed that you are competent in your designated role.

How will the course benefit me?

This course aims to give personnel the knowledge required to understand the hazards and controls associated with working in an environment where they could potentially be exposed to H2S.

This course consists of 1 module broken down into 8 sections. Students are required to take each section in sequential order as listed below.

We will update this page with more information about the Level 3 Certificate in OSH Principles and Practice when it is available.

When required by OSHA standards, workers must receive additional training on the specific hazards of their job. If you are required to use specific equipment at your job site, you must be trained to use that equipment prior to using it at the job site.

If your employer utilizes specific engineering and administrative controls, safe work practices, or has specific emergency plans related to hydrogen sulfide emergencies, you must be made aware of and trained in these practices and your role in the execution of the emergency plans.

Once you have completed the course, you will be asked a series of questions to check your knowledge and understanding. These are based on the learning objectives for the course and have a pass mark of 80%.
